Site Reviews: Bloggerwave

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The site bloggerwave is an additional revenue stream that you may want to consider. They pay quite good for their campaigns, sometimes even ten dollars for fifty words. I have written for them before and they paid promptly by Paypal when they said that they would pay, and I have never had any problems with them.

Site Review: Bestmark (mystery shopping)

The winter of 2006 I spent digging up every legitimate way to make money on the web that it was possible to find (I looked up feedback from many people on each of these). My hope is that in times to come, I am able to show you at least some of these, and have you benefit.

The one that I have in mind today is called Bestmark. It is a mystery shopping company. I have actually been on both sides - because I was a cashier at one time, and what the mystery shopper says goes on a corporate evaluation and each store gets a grade for their performance in the areas of customer shopping experience and in how the store is presented and organized.

Bestmark was one of the mystery shopping companies listed on the Volition.com forum. I wish I could honestly tell you my personal experience with it, but my car quit at that time for good, and so unfortunately I did not complete my assignment and asked for a reprieve till I could get the car fixed (which ended up being four months or more).

What I can tell you is that every time I came across Bestmark in my online moneymaking research, it came up high in people’s opinions as being a very good company who took care of their employees and paid well. And as much as you should avoid cancelling scheduled assignments, my supervisor did understand my car situation.

Mystery shopping can pay pretty good once you have experience and if you choose the right opportunity, and the 2 mystery shopping assignments that I completed years before that I got paid $40 each and back then that was big money.  The feedback from shoppers is used to improve how the store operates.

Companies could use mystery shopping services to fine-tune how their cashiers are coming across to customers (as the struggling newbie who really didn’t want to be in retail, sometimes I wonder if I was the cashier who forgot to say “Did you find everything okay?” that quarter that we got dinged on our store grade for that). If the mystery shoppers were evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of employees, the store may have been able to give me more guidance on how to be successful, which would have helped them to profit and maybe I could have made my job work out better than it did.

All in all, if you choose the right assignments and work for the right company, you can make so much more of your time than by working minimum wage jobs.

Site Reviews: Constant Content

I logged into Constant Content tonight. I’ve known about this site for ages, but had put off actually trying it, even though I had signed up, because you have to wait till your article sells to get some money, as opposed to Associated Content, who pays you quickly after they accept your article. It didn’t take too long to write a good quality article on a topic that was wanted on the site (it must pass the review process before I can submit it to the person that wanted articles on this topic). I checked out the list of topics that they wanted, and it was definitely a lot longer than last time I was there, so there are some real possibilities. You can set your own prices for your work, and get substantially more money out of it than at other writing sites.

Site Review: Google Adsense - their unhealthy control

At first the thought of using Google Adsense on my web pages was appealing, and now it is downright revolting. I will be taking their ads off of all of my sites. They assign PageRank but don’t want this to be used for paid posting. In other words, if you have writing skills, and you can persuade people to consider products, services, and websites through a paid to post program, they will remove your PageRank.

In addition, the ads have a very poor click through ratio on all but one of my sites, and when I put their contextual ads on any of my sites about making money, I end up having ads about scams on my pages, because so many moneymaking things on the web are about scams, and of course they don’t screen that out as well as they screen out honest bloggers like me who would not blog about payday loans or gambling just to make a buck because those things hurt other people. Please do not reward Google for their illogical policy. Please join with me in going on strike against them. The money I was making on the page that got its rank removed, was going toward my medical expenses for holistic health care - that keeps me able to work full time. I don’t feel that Google should control how people make their money but should control a bit better who they let advertise on their system. What do you think? Please comment if you have an opinion.

I was using Google for a search engine. That too will have to change. I refuse to reward them for radically changing my financial situation. http://searchengineland.com/071024-093938.php

Site Review: Prosper

For over a year, I have been a lender on Prosper. This is a method of person to person lending that has been gaining popularity. For individuals and businesses, this is a way to get loans at reasonable rates, in spite of a few setbacks in life. For lenders,
who are ordinary people like you and I, it is an opportunity to make better interest on saved money than what the bank pays. Interest rates can be anywhere between 7 and 29%, generally. However, each case must be considered carefully on the merits of both the credit data given, and the story presented. No matter what credit grade or interest rate, it is still a risk. But for many, it has helped to give a new start or a lower interest rate.

Site Reviews: Payperpost/Izea

For web entrepreneurs who have a reasonably good command of the English language and can write persuasively, I would like to mention the success that I have had using Payperpost as an Internet revenue stream. Some of the top bloggers there make $10,000 to $15,000 a year. I make anywhere between $7 and $30 a day there depending on the opportunities available, and this was just with one blog, which now I have put more blogs on their system. You can do three posts per day per blog.

The best opportunities with them are if you have a .com blog instead of a blog hosted at a free server such as blogspot or livejournal. If I had it to do over, I would have CHARGED web hosting for a .com site. I was trying to live within my means so I registered with a free blog site instead. It’s now that I am seeing the difference in the amount of opportunities available. You can still make money with a blog hosted by a free server, but not nearly as much because many times Wordpress, LiveJournal, Blogger, among others, are screened out of the marketplace opportunities.

The work consists of using your promotional skills, persuasion, and writing to advertise
products, websites, or services. While this is still a controversial way of monetizing online time, I don’t have a problem with it because I just simply don’t choose opportunities that I don’t believe in or that don’t benefit my audience. There is also a referral program that pays $15.00 per referral who makes their first post with the site. I have found it to be a substantial boost to my income (at the time of this writing it has brought me about $700) and highly recommend it to my fellow web entrepreneurs.

The policies have changed from needing to have a blog 90 days old with at least 20 posts, to a blog at least 30 days old with at least 10 posts. This is to allow a lot more great bloggers to take advantage of the marketplace. Still, even with this new requirement, having a Google PageRank on your .com is your best way to attract good opportunities. There are some opportunities for blogs with no page rank yet, but not too many. I have found that patience is a virtue and that Google Page Ranks seem to be updated every 3 months, and if I have the patience to post for free and get traffic and get a rank, it takes off from there.

Here’s how you would join: Payperpost/Izea

If you don’t have a web host and you want to start from scratch, I strongly recommend BlueHost. They offer unlimited hosting for $6.95 a month. That means that if you get more domains, you don’t have to pay more hosting fees, just $10 a year for each new domain. This can really skyrocket your income. I registered five new domains this way and will not pay any extra hosting fees. In any case, this is just my 2 cents for today on how to make money online. Hope this helps at least one person boost their internet income!
