Lift could take passengers straight into space

Japanese scientists are attempting to build a lift that will take passengers 62,000 miles into space.

This idea of a space elevator is cool except that it immediately reminded me of this Native American prophecy that I read so many years ago:
When you see people living in the sky on a permanent basis, you will know the Great Spirit is about to grab the earth, this time not with one hand, but with both hands. When this house is in the sky, the Great Spirit is going to shake the Earth a third time, and whoever dropped that gourd of ashes, upon them it is going to drop.
Argh!
I hope it’s awhile because I have a life to live. I go into denial most of the time and just focus on living life and having fun. But the political-economic scene is getting to the point where people are paying more attention and all the yacking I’ve heard all my life about the things in Revelation in the Bible is resurfacing back up to my consciousness.

Thing is - if we go out and live in space to get away from the mess we created her …. we never have learned the lessons that we are trashing up every inch of the earth and … what, now we have to start trashing up space too?
The thing is - we admit at some level that peace, environmentalism, love, all that - have to be better than war, pollution, and hate? At some point we have to admit that at a deeper level we are ALL CONNECTED and what affects one person affects the rest of us.
